Ridgecrest Trip Feb 17th & 18th

This past weekend, my family and I went up to Ridgecrest, CA to see Mary and Randy. Mary was our daycare provider for the girls when they we young. Mary retired last year and now is enjoying retired life.

Mary and Randy showed us around the desert around Ridgecrest. On Saturday, we went to Fossil Falls where this bright red mound is in the middle of this valley. This mound is called Red Hill Cinder Cone. After Fossil Falls, we went to these rocks in BLM (Bureau of Land Management) land. These rocks are believed to be left behind by ancient glaciers. After a few hours at these rocks, we went on to Ayers Rock. Ayers Rock is a quite place as well as a sacred place. There are 5000 year old pictographs on Ayers Rock.

On Sunday, we went to the Trona Pinnacles just east of Ridgecrest.

We had a really nice time visiting with Mary and Randy and plan to go back to do some more site seeing with them. Our girls miss them a whole lot and want to go visit all the time. I would like to thank Mary and Randy for showing us around. I will be uploading the pictures within a few days. These will not be the final pictures, but it will give a good sense of the area.

Camera Shopping Supplies Weekend

This past weekend, my wife (Carrie) and I went to the ProPhoto Expo in Pasadena, CA. My wife went with me so I would keep the spending down on new toys. But, it was the complete opposite. The ProPhoto Expo was more for her than me. She picked up a background stand and a DVD disk full of backgrounds. Since the expo did not have what I was really going for, monopod for Carrie and extension tubes for me, we decided to head over to Canoga Camera. We did get the monopod and extension tubes.

I played with the extension tubes yesterday and really do like the outcome of how they work. Extension tubes are to create a macro effect for regular lenses since buying a macro lense is not feasible at this time.

We do have an upcoming trip to Ridgecrest, CA. I am really hoping that the weather will be nice for this trip.

February 2nd Trip to Lompoc, CA

On Saturday, February 2nd, my family went to La Purisima Misson in Lompoc, CA. This is one of the most completely rebuilt missions in California. The day was beautiful and a great day for shooting.

My wife and I took many pictures which I should be shortly posting. But, this week I will not be able to as I have my last week of my online classes at UOP. I will inform all when I have updated my pictures.
